Frequently Asked Questions

→ What’s the top bread choice?
Thick sourdough is ideal since it’s sturdy for grilling, but any crusty bread works well.
→ Is it okay to prep this early?
It’s best fresh off the grill while the cheese is gooey. Prep the pieces ahead, but grill right before eating.
→ How can I avoid soggy bread?
Dry off the tomato slices with paper towels. Add them between turkey and cheese to keep bread from soaking through.
→ What’s good to serve on the side?
It goes great with a bowl of tomato soup, crispy chips, or a light green salad. Soup’s perfect for dunking!
→ Is bacon a must here?
Nope! Swap it with avocado slices or skip it altogether. Just turkey and cheese is still a win.

Ingredients

→ Sandwich Fixings

01 4 pieces of sourdough bread
02 2 spoonfuls of honey mustard
03 4 strips of crispy bacon
04 2 slices of white cheddar cheese, split into halves
05 4 slices of deli-style turkey
06 1 medium tomato, sliced thin
07 ½ cup of tender baby spinach leaves
08 2 spoonfuls of softened butter

Instructions

Step 01

Take out your bread slices and slather on some honey mustard. Halve the cheese slices so you end up with four pieces.

Step 02

Take two slices of bread and stack them with a piece of cheese, turkey slices, tomato rounds, and spinach.

Step 03

Place cheese on the remaining bread slices, add bacon, and close your sandwiches by placing these slices on top, butter side up.

Step 04

Evenly coat the outside of both sides of each sandwich with softened butter.

Step 05

Warm up your skillet on medium heat and cook the sandwiches for about 3-4 minutes on each side. They're done when the cheese melts and the bread's nicely golden brown.

Notes

  1. Use fresh cheese from the deli for the best flavor, not pre-wrapped slices.
  2. To make it dairy-free, grab plant-based cheese and butter instead.
  3. Pairs nicely with a salad or your favorite soup.
