Brownie Cookie Bars (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1/2 teaspoon baking soda.
02 - 1 teaspoon salt (goes into cookie dough).
03 - 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for the cookie layer).
04 - 1/2 cup packed brown sugar.
05 - 1 stick unsalted butter, softened (used in cookies).
06 - 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour (cookies use this).
07 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (added to cookies).
08 - 1 egg (used in cookie mixture).
09 - 1/2 teaspoon baking powder.
10 - 1 cup chocolate chips.
11 - 3 large eggs (mix into brownies).
12 - 1 stick unsalted butter, cubed (added to brownies).
13 - 6 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped.
14 - 1/4 cup cocoa powder (unsweetened).
15 - 1/2 teaspoon salt (used in brownie batter).
16 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (brownies need this).
17 - 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar (brownie layer).
18 - 2/3 cup all-purpose flour (for brownie base).

# Instructions:

01 - Get your oven to 350°F. Spray your 9x13 pan first, lay in parchment paper, then spray again.
02 - Combine the flour, baking soda, salt, and baking powder for the cookie dough in a bowl.
03 - Mix the butter with both sugars until creamy. Add the egg, vanilla, and stir in the dry ingredients along with the chocolate chips.
04 - Over a simmering pot of water, melt butter and chocolate in a heat-safe bowl. Stir in cocoa, vanilla, sugar, salt, and eggs, then finally fold in the flour.
05 - Spread brownie batter in the pan. Scatter cookie dough chunks over the top. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 28-30 minutes.
06 - Set it aside to cool completely in the pan. Lift out by grabbing the parchment, then cut into squares.

03 - Feel free to pick any type of chocolate chips for the cookie layer.
