Sausage & Potatoes Mix (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 tsp caraway seeds
02 - 1 lb Polish sausage, chopped into pieces
03 - 1 bay leaf
04 - 5-6 potatoes, large chunks after peeling
05 - 2 cans (14 oz each) sauerkraut, with juice
06 - 1/4 tsp black pepper
07 - 1 cup water

# Instructions:

01 - Gather everything on the list, peel your potatoes, and chop them into nice big chunks so they'll hold their shape.
02 - Pop the sauerkraut into your slow cooker. Lay the chopped potatoes on top, sprinkle with caraway seeds, pepper, and toss in the bay leaf. Pour the water all over it.
03 - Arrange the sausage pieces on top of the veggies and sauerkraut. They'll release their flavor as it cooks.
04 - Cover it up and pick your cooking time—go for 4 hours on high or let it slowly come together over 6 hours on low. It's done when the potatoes are soft and everything smells incredible.
05 - Have a taste to see if you want to tweak it. Sometimes I like a pinch of paprika or an extra shake of black pepper.
06 - Pull out the bay leaf (trust me, you don't want to skip this step!) and scoop this hearty mix into bowls. Dig in while it's still hot and cozy!

# Notes:

01 - This warm and filling mix of Polish sausage and sauerkraut is just the thing for chilly nights.
02 - For a lighter twist, swap the Polish sausage with chicken or turkey sausage.
