Set the oven to 375°F and let it preheat.

Cook the sausage slices in a big skillet over medium heat until browned. Take them out and put them aside.

Using the same pan, soften the diced onion and minced garlic until they are see-through and tender.

In a big bowl, mix the potatoes, sausage, onion and garlic mix, cheese, ranch seasoning, milk, and melted butter. Sprinkle in salt and pepper.

Spread the mix in a buttered baking dish. Cover it with foil and bake for an hour. Take off the foil and bake another 15 minutes until the potatoes soften and the top gets golden.

Sprinkle chopped green onions over the top right before serving.
