Hibachi Steak Dish (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Steak and Seasoning

01 - 1 pound NY strip or sirloin steak, chopped into small chunks
02 - Pepper and salt, as needed

→ Oils and Butter

03 - 1 teaspoon sesame oil
04 - 2 tablespoons butter, split
05 - 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, split

→ Vegetables

06 - 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
07 - 2 zucchini, sliced into 1/2-inch sticks
08 - 1 large onion, thinly sliced
09 - 8 ounces of white mushrooms, sliced

→ Sauce

10 - 1 teaspoon honey
11 - 1 tablespoon mirin (sweet rice wine)
12 - 1/4 cup soy sauce

→ Garnish

13 - Chopped green onion
14 - Toasted sesame seeds

# Instructions:

01 - Sprinkle the steak chunks with salt and pepper. Warm a big skillet or wok over medium-high heat with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Toss in the steak and sear for about 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Set the meat aside once done.
02 - Pour the leftover vegetable oil and sesame oil into the hot pan. Toss in the onions and mushrooms first, stirring for 4-5 minutes until softened. Follow with the zucchini and let them cook for another 2-3 minutes.
03 - Push the cooked veggies aside in the pan. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the cleared spot, then introduce the minced garlic. Stir for around 30 seconds until it smells amazing.
04 - In a small dish, whisk together the soy sauce, mirin, and honey. Drizzle this mixture into your vegetable-packed pan.
05 - Return the steak to the pan and toss everything well. Let the sauce bubble gently for 1-2 minutes until it thickens a bit. Stir in the last tablespoon of butter until it's melted and combined.
06 - Remove the pan from the heat. Sprinkle sesame seeds and green onions over the food for garnish. Enjoy while hot, paired with fried rice and yum yum sauce on the side.

# Notes:

01 - Pick a good-quality steak like NY strip or sirloin for juicy bites. Trim off any thick fat first.
02 - Keep ingredients spread out when cooking. If it feels crowded, do it in smaller batches so everything browns instead of steaming.
03 - Don’t let the steak overcook! Aim for medium-rare by cooking 2-3 minutes on each side.
