05 - 2 cups plain flour
06 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
07 - 1/4 teaspoon salt
08 - 1 teaspoon baking powder
09 - Frying oil

→ Sweet Spice Topping

10 - 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
11 - A sprinkle of nutmeg
12 - 1 cup granulated sugar

# Instructions:

01 - Slice apples into rounds and remove the cores.
02 - Stir together flour, buttermilk, eggs, vanilla, sugar, baking powder, and salt until it’s smooth.
03 - In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the oil to around 350°F.
04 - Dunk the apple slices into the batter, making sure they’re totally covered.
05 - Let the apple rings fry until they turn golden, flipping them halfway.
06 - Place fried rings on a wire rack to drain off any extra oil.
07 - Stir cinnamon, sugar, and nutmeg in a bowl and toss the warm rings until they’re covered.

# Notes:

01 - Keep the oil’s heat steady for even frying.
02 - Fry fewer rings at a time to avoid overcrowding.
03 - Dry the apples off before dipping to help the batter stick better.
04 - For a nice twist, use flavored sugar in the topping.
